The MC Faculty Quarantine Sideshow

The rules and policies of the government’s IATF Covid-19 during home quarantine had fussily confined us to our homes and staved us off from the delights of recreational and outdoor activities.

However, since the country’s situation on the pandemic had flattened its curve, gladly, the government slackened its policies and commenced the MGCQ which allowed us to freely go outdoors and do leisure outside the confines of our homes — with the rules, of course for our health protection, on social distancing and on wearing PPE’s.

It has been a couple of months, and still counting, that we are under quarantine. Even classes now are prescribed to be delivered through distance learning mode. We really miss the actual faces of our classmates, teachers and friends at school, the joy of actual bonding and conversations, but in stinginess of luck, face-to-face or actual classes cannot be allowed. It is good that we have a lot of apps and various internet platforms that allow us to connect with one another to mitigate this longing.

Now, you wonder what our teachers or instructors are up to during this situation, how they cope with this longing for actual or “normal” social interactions.

Take a look at this lady hiking on a mountain trail. Introducing the beautiful Ms. Kaye Cerveza, program head for Arts and Sciences, she’s in to trail hiking and jogging on the mountains and hills of Lala, Lanao del Norte. You wonder why. One thing, for her, is to shape up and another thing is to extend her pool of stamina.

It is a weekly routine of her to do zumba, cardio and other physical exercises. Not last to mention, boxing. Yes, she is training for boxing. So you better not mess with her, or else, you’d be picking up pieces of your teeth scattered on the ground! Kidding. Of course, she’s not just beautiful, she’s nice and very approachable.

What keeps her motivated on doing this strenuous activity of hers? Ding, ding...Look what she got! There’s Mr. Maryl Filarca, our Philosophy and Social Sciences teacher, Ms. Kaye’s love-of-her-life, fully supporting her by accompanying her through her routines. Sanaol!

Meet Sir Dan, our Student Affairs and Services director, flaunting his shredded body while he’s on his backyard workout. He loves maintaining his physique, so even when the gyms are closed, he creatively manages to make ways to get his blood running and muscles pumping.

Ladies, calm down, he’s not just a great leader-maker out of students, but also he’s a spicy hot SAS director who loves guiding student organizations and organizing events to make students’ life at Medina College – Ozamiz City meaningful and fun.

Take a look at the picture below, our very own Sir Dan, not just SAS director, but a model, a social media influencer and a great dude! Hey, you sparkly eyes...Hoo-ho!

And look at this man at the sidewalk, Mr. Ryann LaBad, our guidance counselor, also known as the Black Goblin of Oz. Yes, that’s him and he’s miraculously not in all-black clothing. He’s wearing stripes!

In this photo, he’s on his own version of triathlon. He’s not a triathlete anyhow. What we mean by triathlon is him running for about four kilometers, walking for three kilometers and jogging for another three. It is his weekly routine of an about 10-kilometer pedal course.

But what Sir Rai is training for, hmmn, you’d never guess it. He is no athlete, and other than running, his physical activity is nada. But one thing is given, he’s oenophile, he likes drinking. So, we can bet that this guy is the “intoxicate-detoxify” type. Alcohol is bad for your health, students!

These people are just some of our fabulous staff, expect more of the unmentioned others. So you see, our faculty are not just nerdy bookworms, but physically hot and socially cool people.

Before I forget to present, as an encore...taadaa...

This is not a photo from a mental institution. This is just our beautiful teachers on their free time at the office.

Stay sane! Stay safe!
